Community Gardens Harvest Thousands of Pounds of Fruits and Vegetables in Sebasticook Valley!

Community gardens were very successful this year. Two of the gardens harvested over 2000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Many families benefitted from the harvest.
Anna Field Fernald Library in Detroit, Maine is a mini-grant recipient this year.  They build 10 raised beds and planted an abundance of fruits and vegetables.  Combined with the River Run garden beds, close to 900 pounds of vegetables were harvested from this project.
Christie's Campground in Newport, Maine built and planted raised beds around the campground.  Many campers participated in the project and enjoyed fresh produce throughout the summer.

The community garden at Outland Farm in Pittsfield, Maine was a huge success.  About 8 families joined in the planting, maintaining, and harvesting of produce.  We harvested 1000 pounds and look forward to increasing the amount next year.

River Run Church of the Nazarene in Detroit, Maine build and planted 10 raised beds.  This project combined with the Anna Field Fernald Library project.  They were able to reach many families and produced 900 pounds of produce for community members.
